A 30-year-old woman, Zainab Musa on Wednesday, remanded by an Ile-Ife Magistrates' Court for allegedly theft yam that worth N100,000.
The Prosecutor, Insp.Jimoh Irewole, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan 22,2025 around 1:00 am at Iwaro farm in Ipetumodu, Ife North Local Governemnt Area of Osun.
Irewole said that the defendant forcibly entered into the farm land of one Suberu Ganiyu with intent to commit felony to wit stealing.
He added that the defendant stole some tubers of yam that valued N100,000, property of one Ganiyu Suberu.
According to him, the offence was contrary to and punishable under section 4 of the forcibly entry land(Prohibition) and contravened sections 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2021 and 2002 respectively.
The defendant, who was not legally represented, however pleaded not guilty to two-count charge of entering and stealing.
Magistrate O.B. Adeduwura ordered for the remand of the defendant at Ipetumodu Divisional Police Headquarters.
Adeduwura adjourned the case until Feb 3 and to be mention at Ipetumodu Magistrates' Court.
