A 28-year-old man, Olagunju Olamide, on Monday, appeared before an Ile-Ife Magistrates' Court over alleged malicious damage worth N100 million.
The Prosecutor, Asp Emmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan 10, 2025 around 11:00 am at Ita-Osa, Ondo Road, Ile-Ife.
Abdullahi said that the defendant conspired with others now at large to commit felony to wit malicious damage.
He added that the defendant maliciously damaged theroof of Ife East Local Governemnt/Ife Ooye LCDA building located at Ita-Osa, Ile-Ife that worth N100 million, represented by one Awoyode Adebisi.
According to him, the defendant conducted himself in a manner that may likely cause breakdown of law and order at Ita-Osa street, Ile-Ife.
The Prosecutor stated further that the offence was contrary to and punishable under sections 249(d), 451 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant,however, pleaded not guilty to three-count charge of: conspiracy, malicious damage and breach of peace.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Mudasiru Raheem, applied for the bail of the defendant in most Liberal term, promised that his client would not jump bail, but would provide reliable sureties.
Magistrate Abosede Sarumi granted the bail of the defendant in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
Sarumi added that the surety must be landed owner property, provided Identification Card with three recent passport photographs.
The case was adjourned until Feb 26, for hearing.
