Properties worth over N50 million was lost in the fire which gutted the Nigeria Gold FM in Ilesa on Sunday.
CSFFatukasi Kehinde of Federal Fire Service Training School, Ilesa stated this on Monday, in Ilesa.
Kehinde adding that the inferno that affected the transmitting hall was caused by electrical surge.
He said that the Fire Service was able to safe N200 million property from fire inferno.
According to him, no life was lost in the incident and all efforts to speak with the official proved abortive.
Meanwhile, the Osun State Council of the Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ), has sympathised with the Staff and Management of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria,Gold FM, Ilesa, on the inferno that ravaged the radio station over the weekend.
The Chairman of the union, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu and sent by his Secretary, Mr Adeyemi Aboderin, stated this in their joint release on Monday, in Ilesa.
Ajadosu and Aboderin appealed to the three tiers of government especially the Osun State Government and the management of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria to come over and ensure that the radio station return to the airwave.
They explained that the fire incident,which consumed the stations transmitter and other facilities running into millions was caused by a public power surge.
The Zonal Director FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Office , Ilesa, Mr.Dominic Mokikan and his and the General Manager,Gold FM, Mr Oladokun Oladele received the Osun NUJ team, appreciates timely visit of the Osun NUJ Exco.
Mokikan noted that their visit will bring succour to the staff of the station who are downcast by the fire incident.
The.duo used the visit to appealed to Son's and Daughter's of Ijesaland and notable individuals in the state,as well as the federal and Osun state governments to assist the radio station back on air.
The NUJ Chairman promised to liase with relevant authority to play their part in bringing back the station alive again.
