Nard: let federal govt pays well call off the strike - oauthc



The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors(NARD), Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife Chapter, has said that the the strike would be call-off, if Federal Government pay the owing salaries.
Dr Anthony Anuforo,  made the statement while speaking with Pressmen on Tuesday, in Ile-Ife.
 
He said that they've been engaging the management since March 2023 when they called their attentions to unpaid salary, adding that some of them have been owed since Jan 2023 till date.

The President commended the efforts of immediate past interim for trying their best, appealed to strive further to get the salary paid.

According to him, there are unpaid hazard allowances since 2017, COVID-19 allowance,, hazard, update arrears, among others.

Anuforo called on stakeholders to intervene on the matter so as to assist the management in order to pay our members.

He noted that the ultimatum given to federal government on resident doctors national strike  ends tomorrow, for their demands has not been satisfied.

The President condemned the past regime that ruled the administration for a year on their negligence to hussle for the payment.

Anuforo acknowledged the present administration that took the mantle for the past two weeks for utilising all in their capacity to ensure the payment of owing salaries.

" I believed that the strike will give the Federal Government the momentum to expedite the payment and other allowances, for strike is the language that government understand.

"The government should do their best on health sector by increase the budgetary allocation for health, and Minister should have a good administrative skills for positive changes". He emphasised.

Anuforo admonished the populace to bear with them, adding that the strike is for doctors benefit as well as would benefit the patients , for hungry and angry doctors is a dangerous doctor.

"Let government take care of the members of the association, then the doctors in turn will surely take care of their patients". President urged.
