Court Remands Car Washer Over Allegedly Stabbed Boss


An Ile-Ife Magistrates' Court in Osun on Monday, has  remanded Micheal Ekpo, 28, for allegedly stabbed his boss with screw driver.

The Prosecutor, Asp Emmanuel Abdullahi, said that the defendant committed the offence on June 17, 2023 around 04:49 pm at Ife City Area, Ile-Ife.

Abdullahi adding that the defendant conducted himself in a manner that may likely caused a total break down of law and order of Ife city area which is a public place in Ile-Ife.

According to him, the defendant entered into the shop of one Oke Olawale at the above address, scattered his shop and threatened him with broken bottle to kill anybody that come closer.

The Prosecution stated further that the defendants threatened the life of Oke Olawale with word of mouth that he would set fire on his car and use broken bottles to kill him.

Abdullahi explained that the defendant unlawfully assault Oke Olawale by stabbing him with screw driver at the back of his neck, knowing fully that he may take his life with it.

The Prosecutor  expressed that that the defendant unlawfully seized one Samsung S9+ that valued N182,000, belonging to one Oke Olawale.

He said that the offence contravened sections: 86, 144, 249(d) and 355 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2023.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to four-count charge of: breach of peace, threats of life, assault and unlawful seizing phone.

The Defence Counsel, Mr A.O. Okuovara, applied for the bail of the defendant in most Liberal term, adding that the defendant would not jump bail, but would provide reliable sureties.

Magistrate A. I. Sarumi, asked Okuovara to come with formal application for the bail of his client.

Sarumi therefore ordered for the remand of the defendant in Ile-Ife Nigerian Correctional Service.

The case was adjourned until July 29 for mention.
