A 22-year-old man, Tomiwa Odeyemi, on Thursday, docked before an Ile-Ife Magistrates' Court over allegedly have canal knowledge of 17-year-old girl(Name withheld) .
The Prosecutor, Asp Emmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan 29, 2023 around 06:01 am at Mayfair Area, Ile-Ife.
Abdullahi said that the defendant indecently assaulted and have canal knowledge of 27-year-old girl(name withheld).
He adding that the offence contravened sections:32(2) and 32(2) of the Child Right Law, Laws of Osun, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to one-count charge of indecent assault.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Okoh Wonder, applied for the bail of the defendant in most Liberal term, promised that his client would not jump bail, but would provide reliable sureties.
Magistrate O.T. Badmus granted the bail of the defendant in the sum of 1 million with two sureties in like sum.
Badmus said that the sureties must swear to affidavit of means, resides within the court jurisdiction, addresses to be verified by the Prosecutor.
He adding that one of the sureties must be civil servant not below grade/level 07 with three-year tax clearance certificate or deposit N50,000 with means of identification.
The case was adjourned until July 7, for hearing.
